Our Rating

The rating below is a collection of user reviews and expert opinions from our in-house writers and other reviewers across the web.

7
  • Overall Average 7 / 10

Launched in March 2023, the Fossibot F101 is a budget-friendly option for those seeking a rugged smartphone, and the smaller and cheaper alternative to the Fossibot F101P. The F101 prioritizes durability with an IP68/IP69K dust and water resistance rating, meaning it can survive submersion in water and dusty environments. It also boasts MIL-STD-810H certification, ensuring it can withstand drops onto concrete.

The F101 features a 5.45-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The display is protected by scratch-resistant glass, but the specific material is not disclosed.

Under the hood, the F101 is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 chipset, which includes a quad-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The RAM can be virtually expanded by up to 3GB using software, and the storage can be further expanded with a microSD card up to 128GB, although this will take up the space for the second SIM card.

The camera system on the F101 consists of a triple-lens rear setup with a 24MP main sensor, a 5MP ultrawide sensor, and a 0.3MP depth sensor. The front-facing camera for selfies is 8MP and lacks an LED flash. The rear camera can record videos in 1080p resolution at 30fps.

For connectivity, the F101 offers the standard features you would expect in a smartphone, including Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi 2.4G-5G, FM radio, and USB Type-C. Navigation is aided by A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo. The phone also has a fingerprint scanner on the side for security, along with an accelerometer and proximity sensor.

One of the highlights of the F101 is its massive 10,600mAh battery, which is not removable. This should provide ample power for extended use on a single charge. The phone also supports 18W fast charging for quickly replenishing the battery. The F101 comes in black and red color options and boasts a loud 123db 3W speaker that is also HAC (Hearing Aid Compatibility) certified.

It’s important to consider that the F101 runs on Google Android 12, which is one generation behind the latest Android version at the time of writing. Additionally, the camera system may not be ideal for users who prioritize mobile photography. However, for those seeking a durable and affordable smartphone with a long-lasting battery, the Fossibot F101 is a worthy contender, especially for those looking for a more budget-conscious option compared to the F101P.
