Panasonic Unveils Upgraded TOUGHBOOK G2 and 33 Rugged Tablets with Enhanced Performance and Security

Panasonic Connect today announced the latest iterations of its TOUGHBOOK G2 and 33 detachable rugged tablets, the G2mk2 and 33mk3. These updated devices boast market-leading ruggedness, battery life, customization, connectivity, and performance, delivering an improved solution for today’s mobile workforce across diverse industries.

Unparalleled Performance for Demanding Applications

The G2mk2 and 33mk3 feature the powerful 12th generation Intel Core (Alder Lake) processors with Intel vPro Technology, allowing them to run even the most demanding applications on Windows 11 Pro. Additionally, users requiring exceptional performance can opt for the new Intel Core i7 processor with Intel vPro Technology for an extra boost in computing power.

Both devices benefit from Intel Iris Xe Graphics technology, enabling superior graphical performance. This is crucial for sectors like emergency services, where the TOUGHBOOK 33 is used as a Mobile Data Terminal (MDT). The improved graphics ensure users can access detailed maps, point-of-interest data, and crucial information with clarity and speed, both in and out of the vehicle.

Increased Modularity for Enhanced Flexibility and Security

The latest TOUGHBOOK G2 redefines customizable rugged tablets. Panasonic has taken modular design to new heights, prioritizing enhanced security for diverse applications. The device now features a rear expansion area compatible with a fingerprint reader, ideal for users in sectors like defense requiring secure access to sensitive data.

Furthermore, the G2mk2’s Top Expansion Area, previously offering five peripheral options, now includes a MicroSD Memory Card Slot. This allows personnel to efficiently access and transfer data between devices while working remotely.

5G-Ready Connectivity for the Future

Recognizing the growing demand for 5G connectivity, Panasonic has equipped the G2mk2 with the ability to connect to standalone 5G (SA) networks directly. This empowers sectors like transport and logistics, manufacturing, and emergency services to leverage dedicated and secure private 5G networks, offering ultra-low latency, faster response times, and enhanced data transfer and communication for mobile workers.

Both G2mk2 and 33mk3 are equipped with Thunderbolt connectivity, the industry-leading standard for high-bandwidth data, power, and video transfers. Additionally, the devices feature the latest Wi-Fi (Intel Wireless 6E AX211), intelligently selecting optimal bandwidth to optimize battery life.

Unwavering Ruggedness for All Environments

The G2mk2 and 33mk3 maintain their renowned military-grade ruggedness and IP65 water and dust resistance. This allows users to operate in various environments without compromising on productivity, even when faced with drops, bumps, vibrations, or extreme temperatures.

This makes them ideal for sectors with demanding needs, like transport and logistics. The 33mk3’s versatility allows it to be mounted on forklifts when needed, and easily detached for other warehouse applications, increasing flexibility and efficiency compared to fixed in-vehicle devices.

Transparency and Improved Battery Performance Measurement

While the actual battery life of the G2mk2 and 33mk3 remains consistent, the measurement method has been refined to better reflect the usage patterns of modern mobile workers, particularly those relying on power-hungry applications.

“The TOUGHBOOK G2mk2 and 33mk3 offer a remarkable balance of industry-leading performance, cost-efficiency, and battery life for today’s mobile workforce who utilize demanding applications in the field,” said Dirk Weigelt, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Panasonic Connect. “These latest iterations exemplify Panasonic’s commitment to understanding our customers’ specific needs across various industries and equipping them with the tools to consistently excel in their field work.”
