Emerson Unveils Compact Industrial PC for Streamlined Industrial Automation
St. Louis, MO, USA – March 06, 2024 – Emerson today announced the PACSystems™ IPC 2010, a new compact and rugged industrial PC designed to empower machine and discrete part manufacturing automation. This innovative solution caters to manufacturing facilities and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) seeking a robust, space-saving, and cost-effective Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solution.
Streamlined Operations and Reduced Costs
The IPC 2010 streamlines operations by pre-loading the PACEdge™ industrial edge platform and components of Movicon.NExT™ SCADA software. This enables users to rapidly deploy applications through a user-friendly browser-based configuration. The system also incorporates features to automatically maintain software updates, minimizing user intervention and maximizing reliability.
Gateway, Edge Computing, and Beyond
Powered by an industrial-grade Linux operating system and equipped with serial and Ethernet connectivity, the IPC 2010 serves multiple purposes. It functions as a communications gateway in various network configurations and simultaneously (or independently) operates as an edge computing device. This versatility allows users to leverage the IPC 2010 for various tasks, including:
- Protocol conversion
- HMI visualization
- SCADA connectivity
- Digital transformation initiatives
- OT/IT convergence
Compact, Efficient, and Cost-Effective
The IPC 2010 boasts a compact form factor and features the widest operating temperature range among passively cooled industrial PCs. Its low power consumption of just four watts and rugged construction enable deployment in virtually any environment. Additionally, it offers a compelling price/performance ratio with no recurring annual licensing fees or charges for general and cybersecurity updates. Customers can activate or add features like Movicon Connext or WebHMI as needed.
Integration and Future Applications
Emerson is already integrating the IPC 2010 into a range of solutions, including leak detection systems, compressed air monitoring, batching systems, cloud enablement services, and other packaged solutions. This versatile industrial technology empowers diverse customers to benefit from its advanced capabilities.
